  7. The Activity Based Costing (ABC) system more accurately attributes overhead
  8. costs to specific products by associating elements of overhead cost to those
  9. products that actually cause the cost and by applying them at the points of
  10. transition in the manufacturing process.  The overhead costs are accumulated
  11. against items and attached at each transition point as the item is purchased,
  12. manufactured and sold.  Pre-production costs, such as marketing, credit
  13. control and inspection etc., can be recovered through cost of sales as the
  14. item is invoiced.  This system may be run in parallel and integrated with
  15. traditional costing methods.
